This camp is recommended for participants ages 9 and up. No previous experience is necessary, only an eagerness to create and collaborate. Availability to serve as running crew for camp performances is welcome, but not mandatory.
Summer Camp: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Full Day Camp
Ages: 8+
Camp Dates: Mon-Fri, August 15th - 26th
Time: 9AM-3:30PM
Performance Dates: August 26th (evening) and 27th (matinee)
Location: Greenwich Odeum
One of the best ways to demystify Shakespeare is to perform it! Our non-musical performance opportunity of the summer is the Sixty Minute Shakespeare edition of the comedy classic, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, taking place from August 15th to 26th, with performances on August 26th and 27th. Cass Foster has condensed Shakespeare's richly poetic language to a 60-minute performance while maintaining the integrity of Shakespeare’s words. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of the most accessible of Shakespeare's plays with roles suited to performers of all ages. An assortment of magical fairies make mischief, a motley theater troupe rehearses a play and drama ensues in a friend group as everyone declares and then denies their romantic crushes. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect depiction of what life would be like for tweens if every middle school was teeming with fairies who dripped potions on our youth, causing them to wake up inexplicably grumpy one morning and happy the next.

Duet/Trio Acting and Voice Classes
Your child has been begging for acting classes, but none of the local classes fit into your schedule! Why not let Experiments in Theater fit our class schedule to YOU?
Give your actor an opportunity to gather one or two friends and customize their own acting class! Participants have two options in this program:
1) work on vocal technique and musical theater repertoire by selecting and performing a duet or trio song from a musical (available in-person only)
OR
2) practice acting techniques and explore performance range by selecting and acting out a scene from a movie or play (available both online and in-person)
This package includes four, 50-minute sessions that are scheduled with Ms. Valerie on the days and times that work best for all participants.
In the first class, Ms. Valerie will introduce acting and/or vocal techniques and suggest scenes or songs that will support the actors’ goals. Students will receive feedback, but the actors will choose their own performance material. In weeks two, three and four, actors will rehearse and receive blocking, character guidance and technical instruction to improve their performance.
A final showcase of the work may be recorded or presented in person.
